In England, Glutafin can supply gluten free bread, rolls and flour mixes on prescription. (Depending on which area of the country you live). In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, your gluten free prescription can also include gluten free pasta, pizza bases, crackers and cereal.
The amount you receive on your gluten free prescription is assigned in units. With a set number of units per month depending on your age and gender. The provision is different depending on where you live, but all patients can mix and match their products within the set unit limit of their gluten free prescription.
Prescriptions are free in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. But there is a charge in England of £9.35 per item (rising to £9.65 in April 2023). It’s worth noting that each food type counts as one item. So, three loaves of bread are one charge, but a loaf and two bread mixes would count as two items.
