Our meatballs recipe is easy and delicious.

  • Ingredients

    Down
    1. 2 slices of any Glutafin White Loaf
    2. 50ml milk
    3. 125g beef
    4. 125g pork
    5. ¼ onion finely chopped
    6. Garlic clove crushed
    7. 1 small egg
    8. Salt and Pepper
    9. Olive or Vegetable Oil for frying

    Sauce

    1. 3 tbsp olive oil
    2. The rest of the onion, finely chopped
    3. 2 cloves garlic, crushed
    4. Sprig of Thyme
    5. Sprig of Rosemary
    6. tbsp sherry vinegar
    7. 1x 400g can chopped tomatoes
    8. 1 tsp sugar

  • For the Meatballs:

    1. Put the bread in a bowl with the milk and soak for 5 minutes, then squeeze out the excess and set aside.
    2. Put the meat, onion, garlic, a pinch of salt and a grind of pepper in a medium bowl. Add the soaked, squeezed bread and about half the egg.
    3. Mix with your hands until well combined then divide into 30g balls (about the size of a large walnut.
    4. Heat the oil in a large frying pan and fry over a medium heat for about 15 minutes until browned all over (turning frequently)

    For the sauce:

    1. In a medium saucepan, heat the oil, and add the onion and garlic. Cook over a medium heat for 8-10 minutes until soft and translucent.
    2. Add the herbs, sugar and sherry vinegar, season and then mix to combine.
    3. Add the tomatoes and cook for 15 minutes, then add the browned meatballs and cook for a further 15 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.
